(May 10th, 2012 – Northvale, New Jersey) To meet the new NFPA requirement for Emergency Outdoor Lighting near building exits, RAB Lighting, the leading manufacturer of affordable LED lighting, proudly announces the introduction of its innovative “LBACKUP” family of LED Wallpack and Floodlight fixtures with built-in emergency battery backup power.

Available in 26 Watt Wallpack (WPLED26) and 18 Watt Floodlight (FFLED18) versions, LBACKUP LED fixtures feature affordable, energy-efficient, long life LED technology along with security and peace of mind from the system’s built-in emergency battery back-up system.

The LPACK meets the new National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 101 Life Safety Code requiring an average of 1 footcandle and a minimum of .1 footcandle of emergency lighting outside building exits for at least 90 minutes during power outages. Avoiding the need for external emergency wiring, LBACKUP automatically transfers to its integrated battery if power goes out and recharges when the normal power supply returns.

Offered in a Standard version with a minimum starting temperature of 0°C and a Cold Weather version for temperatures as low as -20°C, LBACKUP fixtures are available in bronze and white finishes as well as three LED color temperatures – cool (5000K), neutral (4000K), and warm (3000K).

LBACKUP fixtures can be installed as a switched or unswitched fixture. They meet NFPA requirements at a recommended mounting height of 15 feet spaced 20 feet on center to cover 46 feet from the building. LBACKUP systems are UL Listed for Wet Locations to ensure reliable operation in outdoor weather conditions and also incorporate a test switch and LED charge indicator light for testing and monitoring. Highly efficient, the 26 Watt LBACKUP Wallpack is equivalent to a 175 Watt Metal Halide wallpack, while the 18 Watt LBACKUP Floodlight, which is fully adjustable for directional lighting applications, is equivalent to a 70 Watt Metal Halide floodlight.

“We’re pleased to integrate our affordable LED lighting expertise with emergency battery backup technology to deliver high-performance, uninterrupted area lighting,” says Ross Barna, CEO of RAB Lighting. “In addition to offering the outstanding efficiency, long life, and low maintenance benefits associated with LED technology, our new LBACKUP fixtures provide critical peace of mind and security as a reliable source of emergency backup lighting. Representing all-in-one and easy-to-install outdoor lighting coverage, RAB’s new LBACKUP fixtures truly ‘have your back.’”

LBACKUP products are highly durable with precision die-cast aluminum housings and carry RAB’s comprehensive, whole-system 5-year LED fixture warranty.

When it came to supporting Assured Self Storage’s recent needs for a light source that was bright, energy-efficient, and low-maintenance, RAB LEDs were a one-stop solution.

Newly constructed in the fall of 2010, Assured Self Storage of Duncanville, Texas consists of 10 single-story buildings housed on roughly 5 acres of property, with each building containing multiple storage units ranging in size from 2,400 to 10,000 square feet. Though each building is different, all share a need for bright, long-lasting, and energy-efficient lighting.

“Exterior lighting is extremely important to our facility for a number of reasons,” confirms Christine Thurston, Residential Manager of Assured Self Storage in Duncanville, a city of 38,000 located just minutes from downtown Dallas. “First, exterior lighting is key to us because there’s no lighting inside the most the units,” she says. “Lighting is also a critical means of enhancing nighttime safety in their units or on the property. Plus, we’ve invested in security cameras– a total of 32 inside and outside the units – and good lighting is imperative in order to capture footage of theft or other unwanted activity. ”

In addition to way finding and safety on the premises, reducing maintenance costs ranked high on the wish list for the rapidly-growing Assured Self Storage franchise, one of an estimated 50,000 self-storage facilities in the U.S., according to real estate giant Cushman & Wakefield. “Like so many business owners and facility professionals, the management team at Assured Self Storage did not want to play “Whack A Mole” with their lighting, constantly having to chase and replace lamps/bulbs as they failed one or two at a time on any given day,” explains RAB Southeastern Regional Manager Terry Crawley. “They wanted a long-lasting light source that they could rely on to minimize maintenance costs and concerns,” he says.

Energy efficiency was another key requirement for Assured Self Storage. “Our lights are on timers and are typically on for a 12-hour period from dusk to dawn each day,” Thurston shares. “We’re always looking at our costs and, given those long operating hours, we wanted our lighting to be very efficient to help reduce our energy consumption and costs.”

RAB Lighting’s 20 Watt LED wallpack fixtures successfully addressed all of Assured Self Storage’s requirements in one comprehensive solution. “Delivering over 80% energy savings relative to an equivalent 150 Watt metal halide light source, RAB’s WPLED20 wall-mounted LED fixture offers a long, 50,000-hour life as well as a fully-gasketed, die-cast aluminum housing to ensure durability in outdoor settings,” says RAB’s Ross Barna, CEO of the Northvale, New Jersey-based leader in outdoor LED lighting. According to Barna, “the fixture offers over 1400 lumens of initial light output as well as outstanding chromatic stability, and a 5000K color temperature. The fixture also incorporates a full cutoff, fully shielded design to ensure that light is delivered precisely where it’s needed. Finally,” he shares, “the WPLED20 is UL-listed for wet locations, has a minimum starting temperature of -30°C (-33°F), and is suitable for use in ambient temperatures of up to 50°C (122°F), ensuring the fixture’s reliable operation in extreme temperature or inclement weather settings.”

Impressed with RAB’s WPLED20 solution, Thurston and her management team installed over 50 of the LED wallpack fixtures throughout their facilities in February 2011 and haven’t looked back since. “We love the lighting,” Thurston confirms. “It’s soft and gives an inviting feeling and a rich appearance to the property. In addition to the high quality of the light, our parent company, The Assured Group, loves the impact these fixtures have had on our energy bills and plans to use these lights in other facilities they build.”

According to Mike Gray, Sales Manager for Irving, Texas-based RAB rep agency Burrus and Matthews, “RAB’s WPLED20 fixtures provided the broad-range benefits of safety and security, long life, and minimal maintenance and were absolutely the ideal solution for Assured Self Storage.” Adds Gray, “maintenance and energy costs are among Assured’s biggest sources of overhead and this fixture optimally addressed both factors. In addition, installation of the fixtures by Icon Electrical Contractors was smooth, leading to a great overall experience for this valued customer.”

Assured Self Storage’s Thurston couldn’t agree more. “RABs LEDs deliver the perfect amount of light and really help our customers to feel safe in their surroundings, which is critical to our mission as a responsible business and community partner. And, in addition to their energy efficiency and long life,” Thurston adds, “many customers have also shared with us that the lights look great and are very attractive – so we couldn’t ask for more.”

Providing high-quality, energy-efficient, long-lasting, and highly sustainable LEDs to this growth business in Duncanville, Texas – which has been nicknamed “The City of Champions” based on the success of its local businesses, schools, and citizens – RAB has provided this friendly, community-minded city with one more reason to be proud.

A newly-renovated, professional office building in Jamestown, New York recently achieved the highest-quality, most energy-efficient exterior lighting possible when its old high pressure sodium lighting fixtures were replaced with the newest in energy-efficient LED technology from RAB Lighting.

Located at 512 West 3rd in Jamestown, the single-story building houses a number of healthcare and professional business tenants and is a showcase property within the portfolio of commercial and residential facilities owned by Jamestown’s Rental Properties LLC. Like many of the buildings in the historic city of Jamestown, which is located one hour south of Buffalo on the lower tip of Chautauqua Lake in Western New York, the original facility on the site had been constructed over 60 years ago and was ready for an upgrade.

“The original building on this site was built in the 1940’s and was redone in the 1990’s,” says Jody Peterson, owner of Jamestown’s Rental Properties. “In an effort to attract a new, high-level professional clientele, however, we renovated and modernized the original structure in the winter of 2010 and expanded the parking lot capacity.”

After making such significant investments in the property, the installation of good exterior lighting became a priority for Peterson. Similar to other buildings in this industrial city, the original structure had relied on outdated and less-efficient high pressure sodium as its exterior light source and was overdue for an upgrade. Says Peterson, “in keeping with the building’s new modern ambiance, we were looking for a nice, crisp light outdoors to properly illuminate the exterior and promote safety for our tenants and visitors while cutting down on energy.”

The solution came in the form of a variety of LED fixtures from RAB Lighting. According to Peterson, “we went with 20 Watt LED fixtures mounted off the roof line on 24” arms with adjustable swivels to project lighting from the roof downward, as well as 5 Watt step lights for a wall wash effect on the front of the building to light the sidewalk. We also used a series of 20 Watt double canopy LED fixtures underneath the cupolas in the front to create a warm and well-lit entryway.”

Electrician Bruce Hokanson, owner of Jamestown-based electrical contracting firm Hokanson Electric, praises the ease with which he was able to install the RAB fixtures at Peterson’s building in the summer of 2011. “The fixtures were all pre-wired, so they went in without any problems,” he confirms. “The 20 Watt fixtures on the roof were also great because their swivel component allowed us to adjust them based on how the light hit the building, so we were able to try out a few different positions and then adjust them to the ideal setting,” he says.

“RAB ’s WPLED20, CLED2X10, and SLED5 fixtures were indeed the perfect choices to cover this building’s various exterior lighting needs,” agrees RAB Lighting’s Ross Barna, CEO of the Northvale, New Jersey-based leader in outdoor LED lighting. “The arm and swivel accessories available with our 20 Watt LED wallpack offer a great deal of flexibility in the use of that fixture and the 20 Watt CLED ceiling-mounted fixture and 5 Watt SLED fixture are both powerful but discreet, low-profile lighting options.” In addition to delivering nearly 80% energy savings relative to the building’s previous HPS source, all of the fixtures feature a long 50,000-hour life as well as a fully-gasketed, die-cast aluminum housing to ensure durability in outdoor settings. “Overall, all of these LEDs emit light in a uniform pattern around the fixture so that the final result is warm, pleasing, and energy-efficient illumination surrounding the building,” says Barna.

According to Matt Beebe, Branch Manager of Rexel in Jamestown, the electrical distributor which supplied the RAB fixtures for the building’s lighting upgrade, Peterson has been among the first building owners in the city to embrace LEDs for their powerful light output and energy-saving capabilities, but he certainly won’t be the last. “RAB’s broad selection of high-quality, aesthetically-pleasing, and affordable LED fixtures make it easy for building owners like Jody to upgrade to LED technology and enjoy the quality light output, long life, and outstanding energy efficiency they deliver,” Beebe says.

As for other holdings within Jamestown’s Rental Properties LLC, Peterson has been so pleased with the RAB LEDs installed at his 512 West 3rd site that he’s planning similar upgrades at both a 5,400 square-foot food distribution center and a 20,000 square-foot medical center that he owns soon. “I would advise other building owners not to be afraid to spend the money to upgrade to LEDs,” he says. “It’s an investment you’ll make once in a far superior product which will pay itself back every month, and the benefits will be very long-lasting.”

“Overall,” Peterson concludes, “we love the RAB LEDs we installed, and the light they cast really helps to support the inviting and professional ambiance we set out to create for this building. RAB’s LED fixtures are very attractive, they perform beautifully, and their energy savings is a given. They’re exactly what we were looking for.”

Though the city of Glen Cove, New York has been an important and historical trading port dating back to the 1600’s, it now boasts an exciting new 21st century achievement to add to its history annals – a state-of-the-art LED lighting upgrade in its Brewster Street Parking Garage which has dramatically reduced the city’s energy consumption and positioned the waterside town as a model of energy efficiency and environmental responsibility throughout the New York region.

Concerned about the high energy consumption and excessive maintenance associated with the old high pressure sodium fixtures in their parking facility, officials sought a more energy-efficient and maintenance-free lighting option for the three-story structure. “They were constantly changing lamps and repairing fixtures in the garage,” confirms Joe Casalino, Vice President of Port Washington-based electrical distributor Duplex Electric, which supplied the new RAB LED lighting fixtures for the project. “In addition, a lot of the light output from the old fixtures was getting wasted on the ceiling.”

Following an analysis of their lighting options in November 2010, Glen Cove officials agreed on an upgrade using highly-efficient LED technology from industry leader RAB Lighting. The 264 aesthetically-pleasing, bronze fixtures installed in December 2010 incorporate two 13 Watt LED light engines in a fully shielded, full cutoff design which ensures that light output is efficiently focused downward to highlight people and objects in the space. The fixture’s durable aluminum exterior with tempered glass and double gasketing is able to withstand the extreme conditions associated with outdoor applications like parking garages, while the fixture’s LED light engine is rated for 50,000 hours of life, which will help ensure long operation and significantly reduce maintenance costs for the city.

Agrees Duplex Electric’s Casalino, “because the new RAB fixtures with LED technology provide such a high light level and direct the light downward so effectively, we were able to replace the garage’s previous 100 Watt fixtures with the RAB system consuming only 26 Watts, for a 77% energy savings. In addition, because of the long life of LED technology, the city should enjoy over five years of maintenance-free, 24/7 operation out of these fixtures, which will further save on material and labor costs and ensure a safer and more secure environment for visitors.”

RAB Lighting’s Nathan Drucker, Applications Engineering Manager for the Northvale, New Jersey-based lighting company, concurs that “RAB’s CLED2X13 fixtures were indeed a great solution for the Glen Cove Parking Garage in terms of their optical design, outstanding energy efficiency, long life, and high lumen output. Based on the city’s interest in lowering its energy consumption and costs, this fixture will reduce annual energy usage by over 240,000 kWh, delivering the city annual energy savings of more than $46,000 and driving a project payback of only one year.”

Happily for the city, and on top of the attractive financial performance the RAB LED fixtures delivered all on their own, the project was also able to capitalize on a $250 rebate per fixture extended by local utility Long Island Power Authority (LIPA), a financial incentive which helped to offset the city’s up-front project costs by over $68,000. In terms of benefitting the environment, Glen Cove and LIPA spokespeople estimate that the lighting upgrade “will have the equivalent effect of eliminating over 307,661 pounds of CO2 from the air or avoiding the consumption of 15,840 gallons of gasoline by cars each year.”

Mike Paolillo, Supervisor of Glen Cove-based contractor S. Paolillo & Sons, Inc., was also pleased with the selection of the RAB fixtures for this project. “It was an easy fixture to install and fit the specs of the project well,” he says. “The whole installation went very quickly and smoothly, which ensured the completion of the project within the deadline for the utility rebate.”

Seeing the impressive lighting performance and quick project payback and hearing positive feedback from city residents pleases no one more than Glen Cove Mayor Ralph Suozzi, who championed the upgrade project. “We’re delighted with the RAB fixtures, which delivered a much brighter and whiter light to the parking garage than the previous technology while reducing energy consumption and costs by 77%,” Suozzi says. “Overall, this project represented a great partnership between government, industry, and our local utility. We’re excited to have reduced our carbon footprint, removed strain from the power grid, created jobs, reduced cost to taxpayers, and decreased maintenance costs due to the long life and durability of the LED technology. At the end of the day,” Suozzi concludes, “everybody wins.”

Scrambling to Help on 9/11
Late on the afternoon of September 11th, 2001, following the destruction of the iconic twin towers and the devastation that ensued in lower Manhattan, RAB Lighting received an urgent request for help from an electrical distributor to the World Trade Center. A leading lighting manufacturer based in Northvale, New Jersey, just 25 miles from Ground Zero, RAB had thousands of high-powered portable worklights in stock and was ideally-positioned to help restore light to the ravaged area so that victims and crews could find their way as darkness approached and recovery could begin. As the company’s warehouse workers had already left for the evening, the RAB management team, including the CEO, pitched in by loading trailers to deliver the much-needed lighting, which could be powered by generators, to the beleaguered site.

400,000 Watts of Metal Halide
Ten years later, RAB is again playing a critical role in the rebuilding of the World Trade Center by providing nearly one thousand 400 Watt Pulse Start Metal Halide fixtures to the landmark effort. RAB’s temporary high-bay worklights are delivering high-output lighting to each of the 80+ floors, enabling crews to progress with construction of the huge structure. With over 400,000 watts of Metal Halide visible for miles around, the building is the brightest in the Manhattan Skyline and a brilliant monument to the reconstruction of the site.

“We have already supplied over 850 RAB worklights to the site, with more to come, and the electrical contractors on the job have been extremely happy with them,” says Nick Sarli, Purchasing Manager for Brooklyn, NY-based Louis Shiffman Electric, a key distributor associated with the World Trade Center and supplier to project contractor Five Star Electrical. “With the high ceilings and open areas present in this construction site, RAB lights provide more light output than many other competitive products, enabling crews to see well with fewer fixtures. RAB truly offers a superior temporary high-bay worklight that we’ve found to last longer and be more reliable and user-friendly than others; as a result, RAB’s is the only one we stock,” he says.

Steve Stikna, RAB’s Vice President of Sales, Eastern Region, agrees that RAB’s ceiling-mounted temporary worklight has been an ideal product for this application. “This workhorse fixture throws a lot of bright light very efficiently,” he says. “With work proceeding on a 24/7 basis, long life is critical, and RAB’s temporary high-bay fixtures have a lifespan of 20,000 hours, which will reliably support the work crews through the projected duration of construction.” Designed with a heavy-duty, die-cast aluminum ballast housing, RAB’s 400 Watt worklights are extremely durable and are additionally UL Listed for Wet Locations, making them an ideal choice for construction-site lighting that is exposed to the elements.

In addition to physically illuminating the World Trade Center worksite so that work crews can operate on a daily basis, RAB’s lights are also supporting the construction of a sophisticated structure which will be a model of green design for the world to admire. Ultimately incorporating over one million feet of conduit, 5.5 million feet of cable, 25,000 lighting fixtures, 600 panels, and 1200 motors, the structure will boast 2.6 million square feet of office space, several floors of retail space, 70 high-speed elevators, and an observation deck on the 101st floor. Designed to achieve prestigious LEED Gold Certification, the building will contain a fuel cell which generates 4.8 million watts of energy per hour and is targeting exemplary energy performance which exceeds code requirements by 20%.

With RAB worklights currently helping to make the new World Trade Center the brightest building in the impressive Manhattan skyline, RAB CEO Ross Barna could not be more supportive of the project and proud that RAB lights are a part of its success. “Ten years after that fateful day, we’re watching a new architectural icon rising as an impressive symbol of strength for New York City, America, and the entire world. We’re extremely proud to be part of this process of renewal and hope for the future,” he says.

Shiffman Electric’s Nick Sarli further praises RAB for the quality it delivers and the leadership it demonstrates. “RAB offers outstanding products – from the temporary worklights currently lighting this application to a range of high-powered and energy-efficient LED technology,” Sarli says. Like the construction of the new World Trade Center, he concludes, “RAB is a company that’s really moving forward.”

RAB LEDs Light The Way to Buddy Holly Statue

August 30, 2011

RAB Lighting is ensuring that a rock and roll legend will “Not Fade Away” by lighting the walkway to the popular tribute statue of Buddy Holly in Lubbock, Texas with its energy-efficient LED bollards.

Famous for songs “Peggy Sue,” “Oh, Boy!” and “Maybe Baby,” hit-maker Buddy Holly died tragically in a plane crash in 1959 at the age of 22, an event that has since been immortalized in rock history as “the day the music died.” In a fitting tribute, sculptor Grant Speed created an 8-foot bronze statue of the rock and roll Hall of Famer, which was recently moved to the newly-created Buddy and Maria Elena Holly Plaza, located across the street from the Buddy Holly Museum. There, encircled by a “Walk of Fame” honoring other West Texas musicians, actors, and artists, park representatives determined that the walkway to the memorial needed better lighting to both showcase the statue as well as provide safe passage for the throngs of residents and tourists who visit the landmark daily.

“Before, there were only three lights illuminating the Buddy Holly statue and no pathway lighting leading up to it at all,” says Scott McWright, Master Electrician for the City of Lubbock Parks & Recreation Department. “Now located in a presentation area in a newly-built 2 ½-acre park, we realized we needed to light a pathway up to the landing area to create a more special effect. We wanted a high-impact lighting solution that would also be energy-efficient and require minimal maintenance.”

Working with the RAB Lighting Application Engineering team and Lubbock-based electrical distributor Electracom Supply, McWright elected to light the walkway with RAB’s 20 Watt LED bollard fixtures, which were installed in March 2011. “We wanted to light the pathway around the statue but not overpower it,” Electracom Purchasing Manager Rick Morris explains. According to Morris, “the RAB fixtures were a perfect solution in that they deliver crystal clear, highly-efficient light as well as long life and low maintenance.”

RAB ’s popular BLED20 system features a 42" high rectangular bollard which delivers 20 watts of high-efficiency LED light -- perfect for low-level lighting applications. “RAB’s BLED20 fixture was an ideal choice to light the area approaching the Buddy Holly statue,” confirms Ross Barna, CEO of the Northvale, New Jersey-based company. “Aside from being optimally-suited for pathway lighting, the fixtures are full cutoff, fully shielded designs that deliver light precisely where it’s needed. They’re rated to last 50,000 hours, ensuring long life and minimal maintenance. In addition, the park will benefit from the outstanding color uniformity and rendition of the 20 Watt LED light engine, which provides equivalent light output to 150 Watt Metal Halide systems while consuming less than 20% of the energy.”

According to Lubbock Parks Department’s McWright, “the RAB LEDs look great – installation was simple, the system is very user-friendly, and the light output has been fantastic. It was a high quality solution that also met our budget, so we feel it was a great value for the investment.”

Electracom Supply’s Morris agrees that the RAB LEDs were ideal on all accounts. “As we approached the lighting for this area landmark, we wanted to try LEDs – and RAB’s system proved to be a perfect way to showcase the Buddy Holly statue while ‘shedding light’ on a new technology. We find that people are always impressed and amazed by how much light LEDs can produce.”

Lubbock’s Parks & Recreation Department is so pleased with its lighting choice that it’s considering conversion to RAB LEDs in the 30 other parks that it maintains for the city. In the meantime, the park’s management is thrilled to have installed a highly-efficient and long-lasting lighting system to illuminate and pay homage to this famous rock legend. “It’s a nice tribute to Buddy Holly,” McWright concludes, “and the best he’s ever looked.”

July 2011 - The National Graduate School of Quality Management (“NGS”) in Falmouth, Massachusetts recently upgraded the quality of its outdoor lighting using highly-efficient LED fixtures from RAB Lighting. A distinguished leader offering advanced degrees in such quality-related curriculums as Systems Management and Six Sigma practices, the school prides itself on its provision of tools which drive operational excellence, lasting cost savings, and “success you can measure.”

With the core concept of “return on investment” being of such prime focus within NGS’ academic syllabus, the school’s management decided to lead by example and upgrade the outdated, inefficient outdoor lighting on its campus, particularly outside of the 20,000 square-foot estate it acquired and converted into a Research Center in 2009. Though the addition of the Center provided students with ample new research, conference, and study facilities, the structure and surrounding premises contained outmoded lighting technology dating back to the building’s original construction in the 1950’s.

“Our curriculum is focused on helping students drive measurable process improvements, so we thought it was time to “practice what we teach” and use our own facility to model positive energy conservation practices for our students, neighbors, and the larger community,” said Dr. Robert Gee, President and Founder of the National Graduate School.

According to Gee, the new lighting had to meet several key criteria:
• reduce energy consumption and costs for the school
• be aesthetically pleasing in light of the Research Center’s location in a quiet residential neighborhood in nearby Woods Hole, MA
• be durable enough to stand up to the extreme weather conditions associated with the school’s New England locale
• create no light dispersion in the night sky which could disturb neighbors or impact the environment surrounding the school’s property, which overlooks Oyster Pond and the peaceful seascape of Martha’s Vineyard

NGS found its solution in powerful and highly-efficient 10 Watt LED fixtures from RAB Lighting. The 150 LED area lights, bollards, and wallpacks that were selected firmly address the facility’s safety and security lighting concerns in addition to attractively highlighting the property’s flagpole and landscaping. The RAB LED fixtures use 10 Watt LED light engines in a fully shielded, full cutoff design, which eliminates light pollution and ensures that light output is efficiently focused downward on walkways. The fixtures’ durable epoxy powder coat aluminum exterior with tempered glass and double gasketing are able to withstand both New England weather as well as the extreme conditions associated with outdoor seaside applications. And, as confirmed through LM-79 and LM-80 testing by independent laboratories, RAB LED light engines provide a 50,000-hour lifespan to help ensure long-lasting operation and significantly reduce maintenance costs for the school.

RAB Lighting’s Ross Barna, CEO of the Northvale, New Jersey-based lighting company, concurs that RAB’s WPLED10, WPLED10S, BLED10, and ALED10 fixtures were indeed ideal solutions for NGS in terms of their optical design, outstanding energy efficiency, long life, and high lumen output. “Operating for an estimated 10 hours per night, RAB LED fixtures will provide many years of maintenance-free operation for the school. In addition, all of the fixtures are full cutoff, fully shielded designs which are Dark-Sky certified, assuring the school that light is only delivered where it’s needed and won’t contribute light pollution to the surrounding environment,” Barna says. “And from an economic perspective,” he adds, “the LEDs will significantly reduce energy consumption and costs, allowing NGS to channel precious funds into activities that can help the school continue to grow and best serve its students and faculty.”

Confirms NGS’s Gee, “the use of RAB LED fixtures reduced our lighting energy consumption and costs by 75% while delivering better quality lighting.” As part of his dedication to a green facility, which has involved the upgrade of all HVAC systems, carpets, and cleaning supplies with more environmentally-friendly products and systems, Gee says he will continue to upgrade other lighting throughout the campus using RAB LED fixtures.

Overall, concludes Gee, “the National Graduate School of Quality Management is committed to supporting the environment by reducing energy consumption and using its own facilities as a model of efficiency for our students. Our new RAB LEDs have delivered significant energy and maintenance savings, have allowed us to be sensitive to our neighborhood and ecological surroundings, and have resulted in so much positive feedback from students, faculty, and townspeople that they’ve driven many unexpected benefits and have truly exceeded our expectations.”

Thanks to their proactive lighting upgrade involving RAB LEDs, NGS can truly practice what it teaches and stand as an environmental leader and model of green behavior within both its academic circles and local community.
